BELGIUM: Patrick Crombez, CEO of Daikin Europe Heating and Renewable Energy, has been elected President of the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA).

Crombez, who will lead the EHPA for the next two years, succeeds Nibe’s Martin Forsen.

Speaking after his election at yesterday’s EHPA General Assembly, Crombez highlighted the importance of heat pumps as the “number one choice for heating and cooling” for domestic and commercial use and a central part of a renewable, sustainable and smart energy system.

“If the industrialization of Europe is a priority for this and the next EU commission, stability and consistency in rules are fundamental requirements,” he said. “Heating decarbonization is happening and may remain in Europe. All industry associations agree on this. Together we reiterate our call for the immediate adoption of the EU Action Plan on Heat Pumps.”

Yesterday’s event also marked the last general assembly of Thomas Nowak, who is leaving his post as EHPA Secretary General. Nowak, who is set to join Sweden’s Qvantum Industries as vice president of public and government relations, will maintain his role at EHPA as a member of its board. A new secretary general is expected to be announced soon.

The EHPA member also voted for the new board of directors. The new executive board includes Patrick Crombez (President of Daikin Europe NV), Andrea Voigt (Danfoss Climate Solutions, Vice President), Rowena Rodriguez (Glen Dimplex, Vice President) and Dina Kepke (Copeland Europe, Treasurer).
