Lower GWP refrigerant options are now available for Daikin’s J Series compact water-cooled chillers.
Daikin Applied Europe has announced that its R134a-based J Series now offers the option of R1234ze and R513A, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications.
The HFO R1234ze, with its GWP of 7, is now widely offered by chiller manufacturers. R513A, developed and sold by Chemours as Opteon XP10, is an A1 blend of R134a and R1234yf with a GWP of around 630. It has been described as providing a close match in performance to R134a for retrofit and new systems
With its extended envelope, Daikin says the R1234ze option will enable J Series chillers to satisfy high temperature heating applications both in a stand-alone arrangement and in cascade system with an air-to-water heat pump.
The EWWS-J- and the EWWH-J- are water-cooled heat pump units reversible on water side, and the new EWLS-J- and the EWLH-J- are water-cooled condenserless units.
Thanks to their ability to provide 75°C condenser leaving water temperature, these units can help meet the heating and hot water needs of a wide variety of building types.
All units feature Daikin’s single screw compressor, optimised and improved to work with the low GWP refrigerants.
The compactness of the J Series chillers is retained in these new units, their small footprint allowing them to fit small and narrow technical rooms. Marine applications are also possible.
Another characteristic of the new J series is the new Microtech4 controller, which offers many new functionalities including the ability to integrate Daikin’s iCM Intelligent Chiller Manager directly in the unit’s controller.
