GERMANY: Daikin Germany has announced the upcoming launch in Europe of the new low-noise monobloc air-to-water heat pump Daikin Altherma 4 HS-S+ using R290 refrigerant.
Altherma 4 HS-S+, which will be launched this autumn, will be available as three-phase units with powers of 8 kW, 10 kW, 12 kW and 14 kW.
According to Daikin, the Altherma 4 HS-S+ will have an energy efficiency class of A+++ and operate at outdoor temperatures down to -28°C. Serving temperature up to 75°C.
A number of design elements were used to reduce noise levels. The lattice design of the outdoor unit grille not only meets visual requirements, but has also been specially designed to reduce noise levels. The outdoor unit also has a soundproof box with optimized insulation built into it. Quiet sound mode, which can be used to further reduce noise, provides additional flexibility. The Daikin Altherma 4 HS-S+ is claimed to achieve sound pressure levels of less than 35 dB(A) at night.
A newly developed aluminum microchannel heat exchanger reduces the system refrigerant charge to approximately 1.3 kg. Optimal heat transfer also improves the efficiency of the heat pump.
To prevent R290 from being flammable, Daikin has taken special safety measures. For the outdoor unit, these include a built-in refrigerant container whose stability is tested for safe transport and installation of the system, a newly developed R290 gas separator, a gas leak detector with combined forced ventilation, a sealed PCB box and anti-freeze valves.
Wall-mounted or floor-mounted indoor units have an additional gas leak detector and their own gas separator.
