GERMANY/BELGIUM: Daikin Europe will use artificial intelligence-based product lifecycle analysis software to develop a comprehensive approach to managing the sustainability, cost and design compliance of its products.

To improve its European R&D process, the Ostend-based air conditioning and heat pump manufacturer will use an extensive compliance, cost and environmental impact database provided by German company Makersite.

The Makersite database – a comprehensive database of compliance, cost and environmental impact data – will enable Daikin to automate and scale life cycle assessments (LCA) for each new product, which in turn will support more informed product design and selection decisions suppliers.

The first phase will focus on creating accurate automated LCAs across all European Daikin product lines, as well as comprehensive product conformity reporting. By harmonizing data and automating these processes, Daikin is laying the foundation for future advancements in eco-design and sustainable product development.

Makersite helps product teams manage product sustainability, supply chain risks, costs, and compliance in real time, all in one place. The company combines manufacturer product and supply chain data stored across multiple systems with a proprietary database of 140 materials, process and supplier databases to create a digital twin of a customer’s products and supply chain, allowing teams to collaborate more effectively , so they can design, source and manufacture improved products up to 50 times faster than traditional methods.

“Integrating Daikin product data with external supply chain databases under a single Makersite data platform prepares Daikin to embrace eco-design and sustainable product development, enhancing its competitive advantage in the marketplace,” said Makersite CEO and Founder Neil D’Souza.
