SAO PAULO — Japanese air conditioner maker Daikin Industries looks to more than double its share in Brazil’s residential market by capturing demand among the South American country’s affluent with models designed in India.

Daikin plans to roll out a series of air conditioners customized for Brazilian homes as soon as April. A team in India leading the development possesses skill sets for emerging market products such as identifying local demand, localizing specifications and procuring components.
