UK: Heat pump manufacturer Daikin has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to support jobs, skills training, warmer homes and more sustainable energy.

Daikin joins Centrica, SSE Energy Solutions and Sustainable Building Services in a bid to accelerate the region’s transition to net zero emissions by 2038. Among a range of initiatives, West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin recently unveiled a £7bn, ten-year growth plan that could support 33,000 jobs and deliver £26bn of economic growth.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Mayor and the four companies, the Partnership will support the creation of high-quality jobs and training, warmer and more affordable homes, and more sustainable energy to accelerate the region’s transition to net zero emissions by 2038.

Daikin will open at least three Sustainable Home Centres across West Yorkshire. They will allow residents and businesses to learn more about green technologies that can reduce energy use and bills. They will also train fitters, giving them the skills they need to install heat pumps.
