UK: Daikin is looking for five apprentices in Manchester for its Level 3 Low Carbon Heating Apprenticeship programme. The application deadline is Friday 13 December.
The course, delivered in partnership with Bolton College, develops green skills in support of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s (GMCA) target of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2038.
Five apprentices will be recruited directly from the Greater Manchester region, with Daikin planning to recruit a significant number of additional apprentices from the GMCA region in the coming years.
The initial three-year programme starts in February, with apprentices splitting their time between on-the-job training with qualified engineers and classroom study at Bolton College.
Four more apprentices from Daikin Group company Robert Heath Heating will join apprentices recruited from across the GMCA region as part of a specialist Daikin class at Bolton College.
The initiative builds on Daikin and GMCA’s shared commitment to sustainability and decarbonisation in Manchester. The programme complements flagship projects such as Embassy Village, a homeless project in Manchester where Daikin installs heat pumps and offers boot camps to help residents gain green skills and secure employment in the HVAC industry.
Daikin is also set to open a brand new training centre in Manchester in spring 2025, which will significantly expand its training capacity. The new centre will more than triple the number of engineers the company can train each year, from around 1,800 to around 6,000.
