JAPAN: Daikin has invested in Asuene Co Ltd, a Tokyo-based startup that provides CO2 emissions visualization services and supports decarbonization and ESG management.
The amount of Daikin’s investment was not disclosed, but it was formalized through a third-party allocation of new shares and brings Asuene’s total funding to $73.7 million.
Through this collaboration, the company will combine Asuene’s services with Daikin’s air conditioning and energy management systems to provide circular solutions that support corporate decarbonization in global markets, primarily in North America and Japan.
The companies say that by integrating the Asuene platform with Daikin’s HVAC equipment and building management systems, the partnership will provide companies with a seamless, end-to-end solution for measuring, reducing and reporting emissions. This end-to-end approach — from carbon accounting to practical implementation — will help companies reduce energy costs and accelerate sustainability efforts.
The deal was implemented by the CVC office of the Daikin Technology and Innovation Centre, which was established in November 2019 to develop cooperation with startups.
