GERMANY: Daikin’s CO2 VRV system will be available from next month as a single 10hp unit with a choice of round flow cassette and ceiling mounted indoor unit.
The long-awaited system is among the new products officially presented this week at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt.
The 10hp RXYN-B outdoor unit provides 28kW of cooling capacity and 31.5kW of heating capacity. It will support a maximum of eight indoor units. SEER is listed at 4.8 with a SCOP of 3.5.
“By adding CO2 to Daikin’s broad VRV portfolio, this innovation diversifies the choice in the market and lays the foundation for further development,” said George Dimou, VRV Product Manager at Daikin Europe. “It is designed for targeted decarbonisation initiatives such as supermarkets and retail stores, with a focus on heating and cooling systems requiring the use of natural refrigerants.”
The new indoor units, both optimised for CO2 use, are the FXFN-B 360º round air flow cassette and the FXSN-B medium external static pressure ceiling unit.
The cassette is offered with an additional automatic filter cleaning panel and two additional intelligent sensors, and is available with designer panels in white (RAL9010) and black (RAL9005), as well as standard panels in white (RAL9010) with grey louvers or completely white.
With larger louvers and a special swing pattern for more even air distribution, it also features individual louver control for flexible room layout.
It is also claimed to offer the lowest installation height on the market at 214mm for the 20-63 class.
The standard cassette package includes a UV streamer kit and a 675 mm high drainage pump. An additional fresh air intake is also available.
The ceiling concealed unit is considered the thinnest and at the same time the most powerful medium static pressure unit on the market.
At just 245mm thick (built-in height 300mm), it is claimed to operate at sound pressure levels of up to 25dBA.
Its average external static pressure of up to 150 Pa allows the use of flexible air ducts of various lengths. The ESP can be changed using a wired remote control.
The fresh air supply is integrated into the same system, which reduces installation costs as no additional ventilation device is required.
The standard built-in drainage pump provides a lifting height of 625 mm.
“We aim to develop VRV systems that offer flexibility of choice for any type of commercial building, while maintaining a clear focus on energy efficiency, GWP, legislation and building trends. This CO2 VRV innovation is the next step towards offering solutions with a lower climate impact over the entire life cycle,” said George Dimu.
