Daikin has recently supplied chillers for a Multifunctional Sports Hall in Budapest, Hungry. The facility, with a capacity of 20,022 seats will be the largest Handball Arenas in Europe. Right-now it is one of the official venues of the European Men’s Handball Championship, and Budapest’s newest sports arena.

About the products and the project
The Multifunctional Sports Hall will mainly host to Handball games, Ice skating competitions in the ice-rink, and concerts.
Consultants for this project chose both air-cooled screw inverter and screw fixed speed units, plus an air-cooled scroll compressor heat pump unit with R-32. The set of products supplied by Daikin will be used to provide both comfort cooling and heating to the whole facility.
The choice they made was particularly influenced by the need for a highly energy efficient HVAC system, which could also guarantee low noise emission levels, and great reliability.
Daikin was the partner of choice for this project mot only for the superior technology offered, but also for the very positive experience contractors have had with Daikin over the years.
More solutions offered for the project
The air-cooled screw chillers – both inverter and fixed-speed – were selected not only for the high efficiency with reduced noise option, but also for the extreme reliability demonstrated by the Daikin in-house designed and produced screw compressor over the years.

The 3rd generation screw compressor is the result of careful design, aimed to optimise the energy efficiency of the chillers, with the goal of bringing down operating costs and increasing effectiveness.
The same goes for the scroll R-32 heat pump, which has been chosen for the very high energy efficiency level Daikin can offer thanks to the combination of the Daikin design and the use of R-32 refrigerant. Besides that, Daikin has proven experience with really successful R-32 installations all over the world, which has definitely oriented consultants and contractors’ choice towards Daikin’s solution.
