United Kingdom: Daikin has announced the imminent arrival of its R290 modular air-to-water heat pump, the EWYK-QZ.

First announced at the ISH trade show last March, Daikin UK said design choices and pricing would be available from April.

Offering cooling and heating capacities from 100 kW in a single module to 2000 kW in a multi-module system, the EWYK-QZ is designed for a wide range of applications including heating, cooling and hot water.

It provides hot water up to 75°C, meeting the requirements of decarbonization projects and energy-efficient building design.

Additional modules can be seamlessly integrated into building extensions to increase heating or cooling capacity. Each module is available in 100kW or 125kW versions, and up to four modules can form a 500kW array. Four arrays (16 modules) can be combined to create a 2000kW system, controlled by the Daikin Intelligent Chiller Manager (iCM).

A number of safety features have been built in, including two refrigerant leak detectors – one on the refrigerant circuit and one inside the junction box. There is also an exhaust fan to quickly disperse the refrigerant in the event of a leak and a junction box fan for added safety. In addition, visual and audible alarms are built in.
