Daikin UK expands partnership with Hive.
United Kingdom: Eco-tech company Hive has announced a new partnership with Daikin as part of the Works With Hive program, significantly expanding the compatibility of smart controls with air-to-water heat pumps.
With the addition of Daikin, Works With Hive now claims to cover approximately 33% of the UK air-to-water heat pump market.
This announcement is a continuation of a successful trial between Hive and Daikin, launched in 2024, to integrate air-to-water heat pumps with Hive’s home energy management technology.
Thanks to the Works With Hive program, the collaboration is now set to evolve into a broader, long-term partnership.
“By expanding interoperability, we are taking the industry beyond standalone technologies to truly connected homes, where heating, tariffs and smart controls work together, delivering savings and simplicity for customers,” commented Hive’s Chief Commercial Officer Tom Pakenham.
The Works With Hive program is designed to bring together leading heating and smart technology brands to provide a simple and seamless connection of their devices to the Hive app. Hive says that through its partnership with Daikin, it is easier for installers and homeowners to connect air-to-water heat pumps to smart control systems that can help maximize system efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
“With the launch of our new API, partnering with Hive was a natural next step,” said Peter Devloo, Daikin UK Key Account Manager for National Utilities. “By integrating Daikin heat pumps with the Hive platform, we are making it easier for households to choose how they want to manage their heating, helping systems operate efficiently and deliver the performance customers expect.”
Hive says the expanded Works With Hive program gives installers clarity and confidence about compatibility with leading ASHP brands. For homeowners, Hive insists this means a simpler and more connected experience, with the ability to monitor and manage their heating and bills through the Hive app, as well as access to customized rates for its eco-technologies, including Heat Power, which offers half-price electricity every day.
Daikin joins a growing group of eco-tech innovators including EO, Fox ESS, GivEnergy, myenergi, Samsung and Sunsynk.
