ITALY: Daikin expands its Compact series air handling unit portfolio with the addition of a new model with rotary heat recovery in the same size.
The new Compact R features installation-oriented improvements and increased flexibility, according to the company. Available in seven sizes covering air flows from 500 to 6,000 m³/h, it is offered in right or left valve positions with side connections, simplifying integration into various installation layouts.
Thanks to its compact size, the device can be installed indoors or outdoors, providing a flexible solution for both new projects and renovations.
To adapt to diverse project needs, the Compact R can be equipped with a wide range of accessories, including electric heaters, heating coils for pre- or post-treatment, additional filtration stages and silencers.
The air handling unit (AHU) is fully compatible with the Daikin AHU-DX kit, creating a single integrated system that combines the AHU and condensing unit under a single control platform. Daikin claims this minimises wiring, improves commissioning efficiency and ensures optimum performance. The main handling coil – available as water or DX – is integrated directly into the module, maintaining a compact footprint.
The compact R unit can also be combined with Daikin VRV R32 systems for highly efficient heating and cooling, supported by built-in safety devices for R32.
The heat recovery rotor – available in condensing or sorption versions – allows the Compact R to recover both sensible and latent heat.
The filtration system includes an ePM1 50% (F7) filter on the supply air and an ePM10 75% (M5) filter on the return air.
Eurovent certified, the Compact R is manufactured on a “make-to-stock” basis, ensuring short lead times. The larger sizes are supplied in two separate modules for ease of use in confined spaces, especially during renovations. Although the unit is configured for indoor installation by default, an outdoor installation kit is available for complete installation flexibility.
As a decentralized ventilation solution, Compact R offers zone control and quick installation. Integration with the Daikin IEQ sensor allows monitoring of indoor air quality and provides demand-driven ventilation, adjusting fan speed and ventilation intensity according to actual indoor air quality needs.
Compact R is also compatible with Daikin on Site (DoS), Daikin’s 24/7 remote monitoring platform.
